Rs200m More Recovered in Kohistan Corruption Case

ISLAMABAD, Oct 30, 2025: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has seized an additional Rs 200 million from the residence of the mastermind of Kohistan mega scandal, Qaiser Iqbal, during its ongoing investigations.

The funds were recovered in two separate operations, with Rs 100 million seized in each. This follows an earlier discovery at Qaiser Iqbal’s home, where NAB had recovered Rs 160 million hidden inside paint cans, a find made possible by the identification of his arrested wife, who led authorities to the cache.

According to NAB, Qaiser Iqbal served as a clerk and later as head clerk in the C&W Department of Upper Kohistan from August 2013. During his tenure, he allegedly forged documents to illegally withdraw funds from the government treasury, playing a pivotal role in the embezzlement scheme.

Sources indicate that billions of rupees were transferred to the bank accounts of Qaiser Iqbal’s wife and a contractor named Mumtaz. Furthermore, several influential figures are believed to have benefitted from the scandal, with accusations of their involvement in facilitating or gaining from the corruption.
