Safety Steps Ordered at Landslide-Prone Section of Shandur Road

UPPER CHITRAL, Oct 25, 2025: Safety measures should be ensured while constructing Chitral-Shandur road at Lower Jinalkoch in front of Charun.

This direction was issued by Deputy Commissioner Upper Chitral Muhammad Imran Khan during a visit to the landslide-prone section of the Chitral–Mastuj Road at Lower Jinalkoch, opposite Charun, to review the site and assess potential risks to the ongoing project.

During the visit, representatives of the National Highway Authority (NHA) were summoned along with detailed maps and technical documents. The deputy commissioner directed the officials to ensure that construction work on this mega road project is executed with utmost diligence, transparency, and strict adherence to quality standards.

He emphasized that any form of negligence, error, or substandard work would not be tolerated, reiterating that the administration will not compromise on quality or safety at any stage of the project.

Mr. Imran Khan further instructed the NHA engineers to revise the road alignment, ensuring that it bypasses the landslide-affected zone and instead passes through a geologically stable and secure area.

Responding to the directive, NHA representatives assured the district administration that the proposed changes would be implemented and the road alignment would be adjusted accordingly to guarantee safety and durability.
