CHITRAL, Oct 25, 2025: A two-day trade exhibition jointly organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) and the Chitral Chamber of Commerce began in Lower Chitral on Saturday, aiming to boost local enterprise and economically empower women artisans.

The Chitral Expo 2025 features over 70 stalls showcasing a diverse range of locally made products, including traditional handicrafts, gemstones, woodwork, dinner sets, Chitrali caps, cloaks, and shawls. The event provides a valuable platform for small businesses, especially women-led ventures, to connect with potential buyers and expand their market reach.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Vice Chancellor of University of Chitral, Prof. Dr. Sanaullah, and Director General of TDAP Nauman Bashir highlighted the importance of the expo in promoting Chitral’s indigenous products at both national and international levels.

They said the event would not only strengthen business networks but also offer training and capacity-building opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

The organizers emphasized that Chitrali women possess remarkable talent and creativity in the field of handicrafts. However, due to limited market access and a lack of modern exposure, many artisans are unable to earn a fair return for their work. The TDAP and Chitral Chamber of Commerce plan to develop a sustainable framework to ensure that these skilled women can receive fair compensation from their homes through improved marketing and distribution channels.

Business representatives from several cities across Pakistan are also participating in the expo. Organizers believe the event will not only promote Chitral’s traditional craftsmanship but will also have a positive impact on tourism, attracting more visitors to explore the region’s rich cultural heritage.
