Pre-Hoc Analysis for MDCAT on October 26 Ordered

Islamabad, Oct 14, 2025: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has directed all universities conducting the MDCAT 2025, scheduled for October 26, 2025, to carry out a mandatory pre-hoc analysis of the examination papers.

It may be noted that a pre-hoc analysis refers to the review and evaluation of questions before the exam is conducted. PMDC officials said that 140,125 candidates have registered to take the test.

Universities will administer the examination at 35 centers across Pakistan and one international center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, while the PM&DC will not directly oversee the exam.

The council has provided universities with exam policies and frameworks and granted them access to the National Item Bank. Universities must follow PM&DC standards when setting, developing, and printing the question papers.

They must also conduct a pre-hoc analysis to remove any questions that fall outside the prescribed syllabus and maintain strict confidentiality of the examination material.

Officials will open the question papers only in the presence of witnesses, ensuring transparency and integrity. Universities will issue admit cards seven days before the exam and announce the results within seven days after the test.

By issuing these directives, the PM&DC aims to standardize and secure the examination process, ensuring a fair and transparent experience for all candidates while maintaining the integrity of the national medical and dental entrance test.
