ISLAMABAD, Sept 7, 2025: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has terminated the basic membership of Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Haji Gulbar Khan along with 12 members of the GB Assembly on charges of violating party discipline.
A formal notification issued by PTI’s Additional Secretary General stated that the lawmakers were found guilty of creating a forward bloc, voting against the party, and openly defying its policy. The party has also made their photographs public on its official social media platforms.
The list of expelled members includes Chief Minister Gulbar Khan, Shamsul Haq Lone, Raja Azam, Abdul Hameed, Amjad Zaidi, Haji Shah Baig, Suraiya Zaman, Raja Nasir Maqpoon, Mushtaq Ahmed, Dilshad Bano, and Fazal Rahim.In addition, former governor of Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon has been issued a show-cause notice.
The expelled lawmakers have further been prohibited from using PTI’s name, flag, or official position for any political purpose.
The move signals a major shake-up in Gilgit-Baltistan’s political landscape, where PTI has been struggling to contain internal divisions and maintain its influence in the regional assembly.
