Drosh Bazaar Inspection Leads to Arrests, Shop Seals

DROSH, Lower Chitral, Sept 5: In a decisive move against price gouging, the Lower Chitral administration arrested multiple shopkeepers and sealed their shops after taking legal action against them.

Acting on the directives of the Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Ali inspected Drosh Bazaar to ensure consumer protection and enforce compliance with official pricing.

During the visit, Dr. Ali examined general stores and wholesale dealers and reviewed the prices of essential commodities including flour, sugar, rice, and other food items. The inspection revealed several violations, including the absence of official price lists, overcharging of essential items, sale of underweight bread, and unauthorized temporary encroachments.

Officials emphasized that these measures form part of a broader effort to maintain fair market practices and protect consumers from exploitation. The administration urged shopkeepers to strictly adhere to pricing regulations and maintain proper standards in the sale of essential goods.
