Beijing, Sept 3, 2025: Chinese President Xi Jinping showcased China’s military power on Wednesday. He stood alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un at a grand parade in Tiananmen Square.
The event marked the 80th anniversary of Japan’s surrender and commemorating China’s triumph in the World Anti-Fascist War.
China displayed hypersonic and nuclear-capable missiles. It rolled out AI-powered tanks, advanced drones, and electronic warfare systems. Xi addressed the crowd and declared China’s resurgence “unstoppable.” He warned that the world now faces a choice between “peace or war, dialogue or confrontation.”
The guest list sent a message. Putin and Kim attended. Western leaders stayed away. China emphasized defiance of Western influence. Xi positioned his country at the center of an emerging axis of powers that openly challenge U.S. dominance.
The parade served two goals. It stirred national pride at home. It projected Chinese strength abroad. Analysts say Xi, Putin, and Kim appeared together to show growing alignment. They argue that the three leaders want to counterbalance Washington and its allies on the global stage.
