Peshawar, Sept 3, 2025: The Higher Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has announced that it will end Bachelor of Science (BS) programs in the province’s colleges.
The department will replace them with Associate Degree (AD) programs. This reform aims to restructure higher education and improve the overall quality of learning in the region.
The department stated that many subjects in the BS programs are unnecessary. These subjects caused low enrollment and high dropout rates. To address this issue, the department has suspended multiple subjects in 36 colleges. It has also released a complete list of these changes for public reference.
In total, the department has transitioned 230 BS programs across 128 colleges into Associate Degree programs. Officials said this move will modernize the province’s education system. They added that it will streamline course offerings and provide students with more relevant and practical academic training.
