Police Probe Girl’s Death With Modern Tools: DPO

Booni, August 27, 2025: Upper Chitral police are using modern investigative tools to solve the tragic death of Shahla Reza, a resident of Nishku.

They have collected key evidence, including Call Detail Records (CDRs), and are analyzing it carefully. District Police Officer (DPO) Hamidullah PSP said the investigation is progressing well. He assured the family that no one is above the law and promised that the suspect will soon face justice.

DPO Hamidullah, along with SP Investigation Ajmal Khan, met Shahla’s family. They offered condolences and prayed for her soul. At the condolence gathering, DPO Hamidullah told the public that the police are conducting a thorough and meticulous investigation.

Shahla Reza, daughter of Muhammad Yaqub Shah of Nishku, was reported missing on August 14, 2025, at Mulkhow Police Station. Later, her father submitted a report about her abduction.

A statement from the DPO office stated that the police registered an FIR on August 21, 2025, under Section 365-B of the Pakistan Penal Code and immediately began formal investigation proceedings. During the investigation, police recovered Shahla’s slippers from the riverbank. They also found a note believed to be written in her handwriting. The note will undergo forensic testing and may be used as evidence in court.

On August 24, 2025, police recovered Shahla’s body in Ayun Lower Chitral. A postmortem confirmed that she died from asphyxia due to drowning. Her organ samples were sent for further detailed analysis.

Local social media activists alleged that the note left behind by the girl mentioned the name and mobile phone number of a boy who had allegedly been blackmailing her. They demanded that the police should arrest the suspect without delay.

DPO Hamidullah stressed that Upper Chitral police are committed to the law. They will ensure that the suspect is held fully accountable and justice is delivered.
