Naran, August 24, 2025 – Heavy rainfall caused a landslide on the Naran–Lake Saiful Muluk road. As a result, around 150 tourists and more than 25 vehicles got stranded.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Department said officials cleared the road under Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s orders. Rescue teams safely evacuated all tourists to secure locations.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued a flood warning. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts more heavy rain in the province. Rising rivers and streams may cause flooding in Chitral, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kohistan, and Abbottabad. Landslides could block roads and isolate remote communities.
Low-lying areas of Peshawar, Nowshera, and Mardan may face urban flooding. Strong winds and showers could damage mud houses, walls, electricity poles, billboards, vehicles, and solar panels.
Authorities placed rescue teams and police on high alert. Residents and tourists should avoid unnecessary travel and stay updated on safety warnings.
