DHAKA: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Bangladesh on a two-day official visit, a first by any Pakistani foreign minister in several years.
Bangladesh’s Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam, Pakistani High Commissioner Imran Haider, Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan Muhammad Iqbal Khan, and other officials welcomed him at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
At a reception, Dar said the visit highlights the strong brotherly ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh. He called for closer cooperation to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. Dar urged joint action to address challenges like climate change and security threats.
He highlighted opportunities to expand trade, education, and other areas of collaboration. He also praised Bangladesh’s role in SAARC and called for greater regional integration.
Dar concluded by saying the people of both nations want relations based on mutual respect, understanding, and shared progress.
