Ghizer, Aug 24, 2025: A Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) in Taalidas devastated Raushan village of Ghizer, causing widespread damage.
Homes, roads, and farmland were severely affected. Several families were displaced. The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat (AKAH) said it had sent its Disaster Assessment & Response Team (DART) to the area. The team is working around the clock. They are assessing the damage and coordinating relief efforts.
Landslides triggered by the flood have cut off some villages. Rescue and relief operations face challenges. Local authorities and volunteers are providing shelter, clean water, and medical aid.
DART’s early assessments will guide recovery and rebuilding plans. The goal is to help communities rebuild stronger and safer. Residents have been urged to follow safety instructions and support the relief efforts.
