Heavy Rainfall, Flash Floods Hit Rumbur and Madaklasht

CHITRAL: Heavy flash floods hit Rumbur in Kalash Valley and Madaklasht on Saturday. Two houses in Rumbur suffered partial damage. At Madak Lasht, a Toyota vehicle got stuck in floodwaters.

Rescue 1122 said its teams received the alert and quickly moved to the affected sites. Under District Emergency Officer Sajid Ali Yousafzai’s supervision, they started relief efforts immediately.

Rescue teams and Lower Chitral police worked together to help the affected villages in Rumbur. At Madaklasht, they recovered the trapped Toyota and returned it to its owner.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) warned about possible glacier bursts and cloudbursts in Upper and Lower Chitral in the coming days. To prepare, Rescue 1122 and the district administration set up temporary quick response camps at key locations. These camps will help provide fast aid in case of emergencies.

Chitral is known for its rugged terrain and scenic valleys. During the monsoon season, heavy rains often cause flash floods and landslides. These events put local communities and infrastructure at risk.
