Yarkhun, Aug 20, 2025: The recent floods have caused major damages in Dewser and Pavur villages of Yarkhun in Upper Chitral.
Following the instructions of Deputy Speaker Suriya Bibi, her focal person, Afgan Raza, led a team to assess the situation and oversee relief efforts. The team included engineers from the Irrigation and Drinking Water Departments and a Patwari. The delegation met with flood-affected residents. Engineers assessed the damage and collected detailed data. They reported that homes, farmland, orchards, link roads, irrigation channels, and drinking water pipelines had been destroyed.
Following Suriya Bibi’s instructions, tents and essential supplies had already reached Dewser. The delegation reassured the residents that the government will compensate for the losses.
Afgan Raza said relief efforts had accelerated under the Deputy Speaker’s guidance. Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur personally monitors relief operations and receives regular updates. Due to climate change, severe flooding has caused extensive damage in Upper Chitral, as in other districts. All departments remain alert and are working efficiently to restore normalcy.
