Lowari tunnel approach road work in Chitral

ADC Halts Substandard Work on Lowari Tunnel Approach Road

CHITRAL, Aug 13, 2025: During a surprise inspection of the Lowari Tunnel approach road in Baradam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) General Abdul Salam identified substandard construction at multiple locations.

He immediately ordered contractors to remove defective materials and redo the work to meet approved standards. The ADC emphasized that public funds must be used responsibly and warned that no compromise on quality would be tolerated.

He personally oversaw the removal of poor-quality construction and directed officials to strengthen supervision to ensure transparency and high-quality standards.

The National Highway Authority (NHA) had recently resumed work on the approach road after a temporary suspension, which had raised concerns about delays on this vital route linking Chitral with the rest of the country.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chitral media cell claimed that the party’s leadership played a key role in getting the project back on track by urging federal authorities to take immediate action.

The NHA and the Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission intervened and directed the swift resumption of work.

The progress of the work is now being reported to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat every three days, as ordered by the inspection team’s head.
