CHITRAL: The Lower Chitral administration has started direct chicken supply from Punjab. This move aims to end the chicken mafia’s control and stop overpricing.
On Monday, dozens of vehicles brought fresh chicken to the parade ground The administration sold it wholesale at PKR 400 per kilogram. Large crowds came from across the region. All the chicken sold out within hours.
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Hashim Azeem visited the sales stalls. He spoke with customers and checked the supply. Civil society praised the administration’s action. They promised to support efforts against illegal profiteering.
Earlier, the administration sent back several vehicles from different areas of KP. These vehicles carried underweight chicken and refused to sell by weight. The DC said all future chicken from Punjab must be weighed and sold to retailers at Rs400 per kilogram. Retailers must sell it to consumers at Rs465 per kilogram.
The administration asked people to insist on buying chicken by weight. They should report violations to the DC office control room
