CHITRAL: Eight students from Chitral have earned spots among the top 100 candidates worldwide in the highly competitive written entrance test for the Aga Khan University’s MBBS Programme held in July 2025.
Zubair Ahmad (Garam Chashma), Ali Azhar (Brep), Samiullah (Meragram No. 2), Ali Yazdan (Seen Lasht), Eidul Hussain (Patrangaz, Yarkhun), Afaq Mazari (Parwak), Eman Karim (Kesu, Lower Chitral), and Alia Shah (Karimabad, Lower Chitral) cleared the test to reach the next stage.
Thousands of aspiring medical students from around the world competed in the exam, but only 100 advanced to the interview phase. Chitral’s eight qualifiers have turned this achievement into a source of pride for their community.
This is for the first time that so many students, mostly boys, have qualified the MBBS entry test of AKU. In 2022, three female students had taken admission to the MBBS program followed by just one boy in 2023 and two boys in 2024.
Teachers, parents, and local residents congratulated the students, applauding their dedication and resilience. This success showcases Chitral’s growing academic strength and highlights the region’s potential to produce future leaders in medicine despite limited resources.
