PESHAWAR, July 30 – In a significant development for the education sector in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Education Faisal Khan Tarakai held a meeting with James Hampson, Country Director of the British Council Pakistan, to discuss strategic cooperation aimed at improving educational outcomes across the province.
The meeting, held in Peshawar, focused on strengthening partnerships in key areas such as teacher training, girls’ education, digital learning, and scholarship program, particularly for marginalized communities.
Mr. Hampson announced that a detailed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is being prepared. The MoU will formalize collaboration with the Elementary and Secondary Education Department (E&SED), Higher Education, and Technical & Vocational Education departments of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Proposed areas of collaboration include:Capacity building through teacher training and professional development English language learning programs across schools and colleges Scholarships for female and underprivileged students Development of digital learning platforms to expand access and quality
Minister Faisal Khan Tarakai thanked the British Council for its ongoing support and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding access, improving quality, and ensuring transparency in the education system.
He also praised the success of the Scotland Scholarships program and assured full cooperation in securing further assistance from the Government of Scotland. This partnership reflects a joint commitment to delivering inclusive, high-quality education across all regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including remote areas like Chitral.
