Chitral – July 29, 2025: A large number of people gave a rousing and emotional welcome to District Police Officer (DPO) Hangu, Ghazi Muhammad Khalid Khan, upon his return home after recovering from serious injuries sustained during a successful anti-terror operation in Hangu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
DPO Khalid Khan was critically wounded while courageously leading an operation against militant elements in which five of them were killed. He was shifted to CMH Peshawar for emergency treatment, where he made a full recovery. Today, the people of Lower Chitral celebrated his safe return with honor and pride.
Warm Welcome at Lowari Tunnel and Drosh
At Lowari Tunnel, SHO Ashiret Police Station SI Miraj Uddin, along with local residents, greeted him with flowers and heartfelt appreciation. Upon entering Drosh, a large crowd led by SDPO Iqbal Kareem, Qari Jamal Abdul Nasir, and SHO Drosh SI Bulbul Hassan gathered to welcome the Chitrali hero. Citizens expressed their admiration and offered prayers for his continued service and protection.
Grand Reception in Chitral City
In Chitral City, several notable personalities joined the welcome procession. These included ANP Chitral President Alhaj Eidul Hussain, PML-N leader and senior lawyer Abdul Wali Khan Abid, Advocate Kausar Ali Shah, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Lower Chitral Wajihuddin, President of Traders Union Noor Ahmad Khan Charwailo, former President Din Muhammad Nadeem, and community leader Shabbir Ahmad.
A large number of people lined the streets, showering rose petals on the DPO and chanting slogans in support of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and Chitral Police.
Special Ceremony in Denin
Upon reaching his hometown Denin, a special program was held in Khalid Khan’s honor. The event was attended by senior police officials, including DPO Lower Chitral Iftikhar Shah, SP Investigation Atiquur Rehman, DSP Headquarters Akbar Shah, DSP Security Iqbal Uddin, District Khateeb Maulana Khaleequz Zaman, and a large number of police personnel and civilians.
In their speeches, DPO Lower Chitral and the District Khateeb praised Ghazi Khalid Khan’s bravery, calling him a symbol of courage and dedication. They expressed confidence that the KP police under such bold leadership will continue to successfully counter the threats of terrorism and extremism.
