LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif officially launched the Pak-Business Express train today, aiming to provide improved travel facilities and a superior passenger experience across Pakistan’s railway network. The launch event also featured the inauguration of modern amenities at Lahore Railway Station, including new escalators, renovated family lounges, general waiting halls, CIP lounges, and free WiFi access for travelers.
In his address, Shehbaz Sharif praised the efforts of Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi and the Pakistan Railways management, calling this development a significant step toward modernizing Pakistan Railways. He emphasized plans to expand these upgrades to other major stations nationwide and improve the freight system to make train travel the most convenient and efficient option for passengers.
The Prime Minister also highlighted Pakistan’s recent victory in the four-day conflict with India, commending the Pakistan Armed Forces’ bravery and technological advancements, particularly the role of the Pakistan Air Force and the strategic use of Al-Fatah missiles.
On the economic front, Shehbaz Sharif noted achievements in stabilizing Pakistan’s macroeconomic indicators, including decreased inflation and policy rates. He also emphasized strengthening bilateral relations, focusing on the ongoing cooperation with China on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and improving ties with the United States. He credited former US President Donald Trump for facilitating the ceasefire between Pakistan and India, calling it a major diplomatic success.
Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi announced upcoming initiatives to enhance passenger convenience, such as installing ATM and POS machines at 348 railway stations for cashless ticketing and upgrading inquiry services to be fully operational within a week. Plans are also underway to install escalators at Karachi Railway Station.
These steps mark a new era in the modernization of Pakistan Railways, aiming to deliver world-class travel facilities and improve the overall passenger experience.
