CHITRAL, June 24, 2025: Acting on public complaints regarding violations of traffic rules by rickshaw drivers, Lower Chitral police launched a targeted operation against unregistered and unlicensed three-wheelers in the district.
DSP Headquarters Sajad Hussain took immediate notice of the complaints, especially after a young teacher died when a recklessly-driven rickshaw hit a bus a day earlier. After receiving a written complaint from PTI activists after the fatal accident, a special task was assigned to Incharge Traffic Warden Police Fazal Karim.
The directive aimed to curb the rising trend of unregulated rickshaws plying the roads, often at high speed and without proper documentation.
In response, the Traffic Warden Police launched an operation and impounded several rickshaws found violating traffic laws. These vehicles, lacking proper registration and driver licenses, were seized and brought to the Police Facilitation Center in Zargarandeh.
The police have reiterated their commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining road discipline, urging all vehicle owners to comply with traffic regulations.
