CHITRAL: The deputy commissioner of Lower Chitral has officially announced the final lineup of polo teams that will represent the district in the upcoming Shandur polo festival 2025.
The selections were finalized at a meeting held on Friday 20th of June.
A total of five teams
Chitral-A, Chitral-B, Chitral-C, Chitral-D and Subdivision Mastuj have been notified, comprising a mix of seasoned players from the Chitral Scouts, Police, Levies and various regional clubs.
Team line-ups
Chitral-A will be captained by Israr Wali of Chitral Scouts. Other players include Izhar Ali Khan (Chitral Levies), Nasirullah Khan, Ilyas Ahmad (Chitral-A), Shehzad Ahmad Shajee (CS) and Amir Hamza (CS).
Reserve players are Arbab Quli Khan and M. Maqsoodur Rehman.
Chitral-B, led by Adnan Ahmad (Chitral-A), consists of Ali Khan (CS), Azhar Rehman (Chitral Police), Zafar Sohail (Chitral Police), Shehzada Hamidul Mulk (Chitral Levies), and Asif Hussain (Chitral Scouts). Reserves include Khuda Bukhsh, Taimoor Ahmad and Masroor from Chitral Police Red.
Chitral-C, captained by Merujudidin (Chitral-A), features Raza Quli Khan (Chitral Khas), Mushafiqur Rehman and Shahzada Jamaluddin (Nagar Fort), Masroor Ilahi (Nagar Fort) and Tanvir Shehzad (Chitral Khas).
Sohail Ayub and Shamim Ahmad are named as reserves.
Chitral-D, under the leadership of Sher Nadimul Mulk (CPC), includes Sohail Aslam (Chitral Polo Club), Junaid Ali Shah and Hameon Ali Shah (CPC), Shekh Farooq Iqbal and Advocate Khalilur Rehman (HQ Chitral). Reserve players are Saeed Jan and Mubashir Alam.
Subdivision Mastuj team will be led by Raja Fazal Khaled (RPC), accompanied by SM Hakim Sarwar (HQ Booni), Nasim Ahmad (RPC), Zohaib Sajjad (RPC), Imaduddin (Chitral Khas) and Israr Alam (HQ Booni). Ziaullah and Tanvir Ahmad are included as reserves.
According to the DC’s office, six players and designated reserves have been mentioned for each team. In case of any untoward incident or emergency, reserve players can be added to the playing squad with consultation from the respective team captain and team manager.
