ISLAMABAD: In a major step toward empowering persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Chitral, Niaz Support, an award-winning social enterprise, has partnered with the local nonprofit Al-Karim Welfare Society to expand disability support in the region.
Air Commodore (retired) Syed Ahmed Raza, Honorary Director of Niaz Support, and Salahud Din, Project Manager at Al-Karim Welfare Society, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Islamabad, says a press release.
Hussain Odhwani, the overseas-based founder of Niaz Support, and Zeeshan Saleem, Field Manager for Islamabad, also attended the ceremony.
Niaz Support has already transformed lives in Chitral by delivering customized wheelchairs designed for the region’s rugged terrain. The organization recently launched education programs for children of PWDs, reinforcing its holistic approach to empowerment.
Under the new partnership, Niaz Support will continue supplying mobility aids and educational support to PWD families. Al-Karim Welfare Society will take charge of on-ground implementation by identifying beneficiaries, managing logistics, and leading outreach efforts.
Field teams from both organizations will work closely to ensure timely and transparent delivery, along with sustained impact through active monitoring and documentation.
During the signing, Al-Karim Welfare Society proposed future projects, including a disability-focused school, freelancing skills training, and job creation programs. These initiatives aim to expand the impact from basic mobility to sustainable and inclusive community development.
Niaz Support also introduced Subah Sehar, a U.S.-based nonprofit working on disability inclusion, with whom it partners in Pakistan. This connection could lead to large-scale, high-impact initiatives for the PWD community.
Both organizations reaffirmed their shared commitment to building dignity, independence, and opportunity for PWDs in Chitral, setting a strong foundation for broader social inclusion.
