Rs180m released for Kalash valley road: CM\’s adviser

CHITRAL: May 17: Adviser to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tourism and Culture Zahid Chanzeb said Rs180 million have been released to the Communication and Works Department for the repair and rehabilitation of the old road leading to the Kalash valleys.
He stated that construction work will begin shortly, enabling tourists to explore the valley with greater ease and comfort.
He made these remarks while attending the ongoing Chilim Jusht (Joshi) Festival in Bumburate Valley, one of the three valleys inhabited by the indigenous Kalash community.
Zahid Chanzeb praised the large turnout of both domestic and foreign tourists at the event, calling it a positive sign for tourism in the region.
He lauded the efforts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA), Kalash Development Authority and the district administration for successfully organizing the festival.
He said the Tourism Police and other relevant departments had efficiently performed their duties to ensure safety and assistance for the visiting tourists. The KPCTA not only opened camping pods in the valley but also activated tourist facilitation centers in Dir and Chitral to provide necessary services to travelers.
During his visit, Mr. Chanzeb also toured the local Kalash museum and other significant cultural sites in the valley.
The final day of the Joshi Festival will be celebrated in Birir Valley on May 17.
