Limited war damages on ground in Pakistan, India: report

Monitoring Desk

A US newspaper has reported that though India suffered huge losses as Pakistan downed its fighter jets, there were limited losses on the grounds in both the countries during the four-day fighting.

According to the news, satellite images indicate that although the attacks covered much wider areas, the actual damage was far more limited than officially stated.

According to The New York Times, it is clear that both countries’ forces suffered casualties. India admitted that five of its soldiers were killed, while 13 military personnel were martyred in Pakistan.

In the war, Pakistan targeted five aircraft, including two Rafales.

According to the American newspaper, India’s biggest loss was the destruction of a fighter jet. However, the Indian government has yet to disclose how many of its aircraft were destroyed by Pakistan.

According to officials and diplomats, at least two Indian aircraft were damaged, and it is quite possible that the number is even higher.

By comparing satellite images from before and after the attacks, the American newspaper wrote that installations in Pakistan were also visibly damaged. India claims it attacked the hangar at Bholari Airbase, and according to the newspaper, satellite images also suggest that the damage was apparently to the hangar.

According to the report, the most sensitive installation targeted by India in Pakistan was the Nur Khan Airbase.

The newspaper reported that the Indian military claims to have attacked the runway and other installations of this key airbase, and satellite images confirm this as well.

According to the newspaper, on May 10, Pakistan issued a notice stating that the runway at Rahim Yar Khan Airbase was non-operational. Regarding Sargodha Airbase, Indian officials claim that two parts of its runway were targeted.

The American newspaper stated that the Pakistani military claimed to have targeted two dozen Indian military installations and airbases. Indian officials acknowledged that four of their airbases suffered limited damage but did not provide details.

The newspaper noted that satellite images of the targets hit by the Pakistani military are extremely limited and do not currently clearly show damage to the airbases.

The newspaper did not explain why the satellite images do not clearly show damage to the Indian military bases, although it did acknowledge that these are indeed the bases where Pakistan’s military operations were reported.

Quoting Pakistan’s state media, the American newspaper said that the Pakistan Armed Forces had destroyed Udhampur Airbase. A family in India confirmed that their relative, a soldier, was killed at that airbase, but a satellite image taken on May 12 did not visibly show damage to the airbase.

The newspaper also did not clarify whether the missiles repeatedly launched by Pakistan that failed to visibly damage the targets had simply disappeared without a trace.

Furthermore, the newspaper did not report that India’s attacks caused damage to mosques and homes in Pakistan, nor did it mention the civilian casualties resulting from these attacks.
