CHITRAL: The Lower Chitral District Bar Association organized an oath-taking ceremony for its newly-elected office-bearers on Wednesday.
District and Sessions Judge Khalid Khan administered the oath while Member of National Assembly Abdul Latif attended as chief guest.
Mominur Rehman took oath as President, Waqas Ahmed as Vice President and Saddam Hussain as General Secretary. Other elected office-bearers also took their oath.
In his address, District and Sessions Judge Khalid Khan urged the bar and bench to collaborate closely to ensure fair and respectful treatment for litigants seeking justice. He emphasized that showing respect to others enhances one’s own dignity and that all legal professionals must follow this core principle.
Chief guest Abdul Latif underlined the importance of justice and rule of law, declaring it the cornerstone of any civilized society. He criticized efforts to subjugate the judiciary and manipulate justice for personal interests. He cited the US judicial system as an example, where the judiciary holds supreme authority and judges retire voluntarily, not under pressure.
Bar President Mominur Rehman shared his vision and pledged to foster a strong relationship between the bar and bench to streamline the delivery of affordable and prompt justice. He emphasized that the progress of any nation depends on a fair judicial system and committed the legal community to uphold this global ideal.
A large number of lawyers, judicial officials, and notables attended the ceremony. The event concluded with a collective prayer for justice and national progress.
