RESHUN: Residents of Shader Reshun, affected by Yarkhoon River erosion, have announced the end of their protest following the commencement of construction work on protective embankments and efforts to divert the river\’s flow by the district administration, said a statement by the DC office.
The local community had long been distressed by the river\’s continuous damage and had been demanding immediate protective measures. Acting on the public’s concerns, Deputy Commissioner of Upper Chitral Haseebur Rehman Khan Khalil directed Additional Deputy Commissioner General Moazzam Khan Bangash and Assistant Commissioner Mastuj Ehsan Afridi to visit Shadher Reshun and hold negotiations with the residents.
During the discussions, the residents expressed their concerns and urged the district administration for swift action. In response, the Department of Soil Conservation initiated the construction of protective embankments and began work to divert the river’s course.
Representatives of Deputy Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Suriya Bibi were also present during the negotiations and assured the public that their concerns would be addressed at the highest level.
Expressing gratitude to the district administration and Suriya Bibi, the residents of Reshun welcomed the steps taken to safeguard the area and officially announced the end of their protest.
