54 terrorists killed trying to enter Pakistan: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Security forces foiled a major infiltration attempt from Afghanistan and killed 54 terrorists, said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday.

The terrorists tried to cross into Pakistan through Hassankhel area of North Waziristan during the nights of April 25–26 and 26–27. Security forces detected their movement and responded swiftly, it added.

During the operation, security forces recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives. Acting under the direction of their foreign handlers, the terrorists had planned to launch large-scale attacks within Pakistan.

The ISPR added that at a time when India was making \”baseless accusations\” against Pakistan, these militant activities clearly pointed to external instigation.

Security forces achieved the highest number of militant kills in a single counter-terrorism operation during the ongoing campaign against terrorism, the ISPR added.
