Parkusap residents raise pressing public issues at open forum

PARKUSAP: Residents of Parkusap village and adjoining areas raised a large number of pressing public issues during an open forum (Khuli Kachehri) organized by the Upper Chitral district administration on Thursday.

Among the major demands put forward by the local community were the immediate restoration of the Ghoro-Parkusap road and its handover to the Communication and Works (C&W) Department, repair of the Parkusap bridge, establishment of a NADRA office in Mastuj, and the urgent revival of water supply schemes in Parkusap and Chuinj.

Other issues highlighted included the appointment of a science teacher at the Government Middle School Parkusap, sufficient supply of food grains in local warehouses, installation of poles and transmission lines for electricity from Reshun and Ghoro-Parkusap power stations, and rehabilitation of damaged irrigation channels along with construction of protective embankments.

The open forum was held at the Government Middle School Parkusap by Deputy Commissioner Upper Chitral Haseebur Rehman Khan Khalil. Also present on the occasion were officials from different departments.

Responding to the concerns, the deputy commissioner assured the public that all these issues were genuine and would be addressed on priority. He emphasized that the district administration, in collaboration with relevant departments, would take practical steps to resolve the problems.

He also directed heads of line departments to take the concerns of the people seriously and ensure swift action so that the purpose of holding open forums in remote areas is truly achieved.

Local elders expressed their appreciation to the district administration for engaging directly with the people and showing a commitment to resolving their longstanding issues.
