Flash flood damages three houses, blocks roads

CHITRAL: Continuous rain accompanied by thunder and lightning has disrupted normal life across Lower Chitral and its adjoining areas.

According to Rescue 1122, a flash flood in the Broze Koar area has damaged three houses.

Rescue 1122 teams promptly reached the affected site and were actively engaged in relief operations. Families affected by the flooding are being relocated to safer areas. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far.

The floodwaters have also blocked the main Chitral road, affecting traffic flow in the region.

On the instructions of the district administration, the National Highway Authority (NHA) has begun emergency operations to clear and reopen the road.

Rescue 1122 has also been assisting in transporting patients who were stranded due to the road blockage to nearby hospitals.

Weather outlook

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, thundershowers, cooler with times of clouds and sun coupled with maximum temperature of 18°C are expected in Chitral on Sunday and Monday.

Residents are advised to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay updated with the latest weather advisories.
