Malaysian tourists stranded on Shandur

MASTUJ (UPPER CHITRAL): Three Malaysian tourists got stuck on the snowbound Shandur Pass and were rescued by personnel of the Chitral Levies.

According to a statement issued by the district administration of Upper Chitral, the Malaysian tourists were travelling in a vehicle from Chitral to Gilgit when they got stuck on the pass.

After receiving information, personnel from the Levies reached the spot and rescued the tourists. The Levies personnel helped the tourists cross the border into GB and handed him to the Scouts there.

It may be noted that with the deployment of  staff and machinery the Shandur pass could be kept open in the winter to facilitate local travel and the tourists alike.
