LISBON (PORTUGAL: King Charles has granted Mawlana Hazar Imam Aga Khan V the title of “His Highness,” said the Diwan of Ismaili Imamat in Lisbon.
The tradition has been accorded by the British Monarch to the Ismaili Imams dating back to the 46th Imam Mawlana Hasan Ali Shah Aga Khan I.
Queen Alizabeth had also granted the title of His Highness to Shah Karim Aga Khan IV a week after he became the 49the Imam of Ismailis in the year 1957.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the Dawoodi Bohra community including Shahzada Ammar Jamaluddin, brother of His Holiness and Shahzada Mehlam Yunus Hakimuddin, nephew of His Holiness, met the 50th Imam Shah Rahim Al-Hussaini and conveyed condolences on the passing of Mawlana Shah Karim and felicitated him on his accession as the 50th Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims.
