BOONI: After the flood in Booni Gol on Aug 3, the district administration of Upper Chitral has set up tent villages at two places for use in case of any emergency situation.
On the other hand, the KP government on Sunday declared an emergency in Upper Chitral where flash floods and GLOFs have rattled many villages with the possibility of more floods.
The flood triggered by cloudbursts on Saturday afternoon in Booni Gol passed through its pathway into the river, raising its water level.
As the PDMA has issued an alert about GOLFs in the region, the district administration of Upper Chitral set up tent villages at Gahli Ground and Govt Degree College for Boys where affected people could be accommodated in case of more floods in Booni or other nearby areas.
In a notification issued on Sunday, the Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department referred to a communication from the commissioner Malakand Division.
It said roads along with other public and private properties have been destroyed in the ongoing monsoon rains, therefore, an emergency is being declared in Upper Chitral from Aug 4 to August 30 for carrying out relief and rehabilitation activities.

Timely response from the administration is appreciated.
