GWADAR: Terrorists carried out an attack on the Gwadar port authority complex with multiple blasts and gunfire. Security forces killed eight of the attackers on Wednesday afternoon.
According to reports, the terrorists first detonated explosive devices and then opened fire in the building. Security forces reached the spot and in an exchange of fire killed eight of the attackers. Two security forces jawans were also martyred by fighting off the terrorists, the ISPR said in a statement.
They were identified as Sepoy Bahar Khan, 35, from DG Khan and Sepoy Imran Ali, 28, from Khairpur.
Outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The building houses a number of government offices including that of the Election Commission of Pakistan, passport.
The United Nations Department for Safety and Security in a statement said, “several explosions followed by continuous firing” were reported during the attack on the complex, adding that it hosts several government and paramilitary offices.
There were no immediate reports of casualties, it said, elaborating that seven personnel from three UN agencies based in Gwadar and two UN agencies on missions were “safe and accounted for”.
