Strike by KP bar council against arrest of lawyer in Chitral

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council is observing a boycott from courts against the arrest of Syed Farid Hussain Jan Advocate in Chitral, who is member of the council.

KP Bar Council vice chairman Zarbadshah Khan and executive committee chairman Syed Mubashir Shah condemned the arrest of Farid Hussain Jan advocate and announced observing the boycott from court on Wednesday.

They said Farid Jan was a member of the KP Bar Council and now a candidate to contest elections for the national and provincial assemblies’ seats in Chitral.

They said that he along with his colleagues was arrested by the police after registering a case against them under Section 188, which they termed an illegal and a conspiracy against him.

The lawyers said the caretaker government had no authority to create hurdles for the candidates or voters during the ongoing electioneering.

They said the caretaker government should release the arrested lawyer and his colleagues and put a halt to the registration of fake cases against the political workers and their arrest forthwith.
