CHITRAL: Scores of professional beggars were sent back to their native districts on the direction of the district police officer Ikramullah Khan, said a spokesman on Friday.
With the arrival of the holy month of Ramazan every year, a large number of beggars arrive in Chitral from down districts.
The beggars arriving in Chitral city and Drosh were taken to the Lowari tunnel and sent back to their areas by officials of the police.
The spokesman said the action was taken on public complaints and keeping the prevailing security situation in the country.

Beggars are swarming markets in Chitral town and other areas. These beggars every year reach Chitral not only to beg but also to spend the summers months in cool weather here.
Police and district administration well know and see these beggars roaming around in groups in bazaar and other areas.
