AWI (UPPER CHITRAL): People of Awi and nearby areas have demanded that the office of the Laspur union council (UC) should be relocated to Awi from Brok village to facilitate the local population.
The jurisdiction of the Laspur union council spreads from Awi to Sorlaspur, the last village of the Laspur valley near Shandur Pass.
But instead of setting up the UC office at a place easily accesdible to the residents of the area, it has been established in Brok village of Laspur.
Talking to ChitralToday, people of Awi, Meragram No 1 and other areas complained that they have to visit Brok village to get necessary documents such as birth and death certificates and for marriage registration.
In order to facilitate the residents, a sub-office of the UC can also be opened in Meragram or Awi.
They demanded that the authorities concerned should take notice of the issue and make arrangements to facilitate the applicants.
