ISLAMABAD: Work on Gilgit-Shandur-Chitral highway project would be initiated next year, said Gilgit-Baltistan Governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon here.
According to Radio Pakistan, the governor said the federal government was giving top priority to development of GB and had sanctioned a number of projects, mostly in energy sector.
He said the completion of the Gilgit-Chitral highway project would help promote tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan as well as Khyber Pukhtoonkhwa.
Visualized as an alternative to CPEC, construction of the road has faced delays for many years, and is in a dilapidated condition.
