VC member resigns in frustration

\"Mir In his resignation letter, a copy also sent to ChitralToday, Mr Khan said that he had taken part in the elections with a mission to serve the people of his area and the residents had also voted him with the same expectation. Unfortunately, however, after the May 30, 2015, LG elections the provincial government of KP dumped the elected representatives and did not enable them to serve the masses. During the devastating floods of July-Aug 2015 and after the October 26, 2015, earthquake, the people of my area needed help on an urgent basis but as their elected representative I could not come to their help, he added. As a result, the sense of disappointment about the LG members started increasing among the people. Having no other options and losing all hopes, I am now tendering my resignation as a member of the village council which may be accepted, he added. ]]>

  1. Sher Wali Khan Aseer

A very good decision. If the Provincial Government KPK had no intention to empower these root level representatives of the voters, then the whole exercise for elections and wastage of public money on that useless excursion might have been just a trick and show that saved the head of the provincial government from action of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. It also questions the big claims of Mr. Imran Khan about good governance.
Mr. Mir Muhammad Khan of Booni has taken the right step. I think there should be a collective resignation of all the village council members if the provincial government continued ignoring their rights.

  2. Resignation is not the solution to the problem Mr Muhammad Khan. Some the VCs have already started working and approved budgets.
@ Sher Wali Khan this is not the right suggestion to the members, Local Government system does not mean only allocation of money but it means inclusion in the development process. The VCs are identifying schemes and prioritizing their needs for themselves which were earlier done by the MPAs by allocating schemes to their cronies. You can best explain the blunder by the ex regimes in Yarkhun area, where project leaders were paid by the contractor apart from the comission to C&W. This process is very important is minimising the influences of the powerful.

  3. This is concerning Road Traffic Safety and Regulations in Chitral, The bypass road is a wonderful project, but the people of Chitral especially the Corolla drivers ( O-GAY ) drivers need to be made aware of the traffic rules. They have seen a clean road for the first time in their life ,for this reason they dont know how to move or drive on it, turning left-right as they wish, not keeping in mind something called speed limit.
My second concern is Parking, because of bypass more and more shops are opening on the bypass, unfortunately there is no planed parking areas available.
Plus the Traffic Police are very bios, they have punctured my car twice in one day for parking in the bypass ( my mistake ) but other cars which belong to chitralis are never fined or punctured. by the way I am from Karachi.
I hope some one seriously reads this and gets in contact with me for solutions, I dont expect any response from the Police Department or The DC office.
As I had approached them several times but o action has been taken.
    May GOD keep Chitral safe.

    1. i have also seen a similar biased attitude of police in chitral. on our way to kalash valleys a few years back, i and my two friends were asked to pay a tax before crossing a small bridge. all other people in the vehicle were chitralis and they were not asked to pay any tax.
as a citizens of pakistan everyone should be treated equally. if one of my friends from Chitral comes to murree or any other city and if the police check his id cards and ask him to pay a tax only because of being a chitrali what impression would you leave.
people of chitral are good but their police is not different from their comrades in punjab or any other area in pakistan.

  4. The police either in Chitral or elsewhere in Pakistan have to protect the lives of its citizens.Since law and order situation in Pakistan has been worsening due to extremism. To maintain law and order situation specially related with border checkpoint the police asks strangers whom they don’t know and this is one of the duties of police.Good and bad people are found in every department and it is not fair to say that all the people in the police department are bad is also a sweeping remarks. At the same i do believe that all the peace loving people of pakistan must be held in high esteem and dealt with politely honorably and with dignity by its own police. If the police treated you out of the way only because you were non chitrali is really as a matter of sorrow for all of us.
