CHITRAL, Jan 17: Hundreds of people from the Karimabad and Sosum villages of Garam Chashma repaired the main road to their area on a self-help basis after their demands to the government departments fell on deaf ears.
A few days ago, the people had also repaired the Hasanabad bridge on a self-help basis. An aged woman told this scribe that her house was situated beneath the road and the road collapsed on her house three times in the recent past. She said that being a poor woman she faced great problems while reconstructing the house.
Mohammad Ali, the principal of a public school at Breshgram, said the area people approached parliamentarians to motivate them for handing over the road to the communication and works department but to no avail.
Former district Naib Nazim and leader of Sosum valley, Sultan Shah, said the local people were tired of demanding the handing over of the road to the C&W department.

It is good not to be dependent on government or NGOs all the time but things cannot be done like this, I mean expressing anger over mpas and mna. the fault is that we don’t have local govts which musharraf and all other military rulers put in place but the so-called (nam nihad) politicians scrapped them. despite making big claims imran khan’s pti also failed to hold local bodies elections in kpk. These small things like construction of link roads, water supply etc are properly done at the local ie uc level but the politicians would never want funds slipping out of their hands and used by grass-roots level representatives. so the only solution to such issues is holding UC elections.
