Thousands rally for Musharraf in Chitral

CHITRAL, April 30: Thousands of people attended at a rally here on Tuesday in solidarity with former President Gen (retired) Pervez Musharraf. They also condemned the one-sided state discrimination against the former president. \"mushThe rally was held under the aegis of the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Chitral. Despite heavy rain and blockade of roads to many sub-valleys, a large number of people attended the rally in a short notice. Led by Shahzada Iftikharuddin and Shahzada Khalid Pervez of the APML, the rally started from Chew Bridge and ended at Polo Ground where it turned into a big public meeting. The participants of the rally were chanting slogans in favour of Gen Musharraf. Speaking on the occasion, APML leaders and elders from different areas said the discriminatory treatment against Musharraf had hurt the people of Chitral. They said Musharraf was the real benefactor of Chitral and the people of Chitral were saddened on his disqualification from contesting elections from NA-32. Bachhara Khan from the Kalash valley said that if someone brings the stick of Musharraf and asks him to vote he will vote for Musharraf’s stick. He said the former president had won the hearts and minds of the people of Chitral not only by constructing the Lowari tunnel and launching other projects but also through his well wishes for the half million Chitralis. Ejallullah Khan from Ayun and the chairman of Orgoch also praised Musharraf for his unforgettable services for Chitral.\"mush2 APML candidate for NA-32 Shahzada Iftikharuddin and Shahzada Khalid Pervez said that the people of Chitral would never forget the services rendered by Musharraf. They said people of Chitral would vote for the APML and the seat would be vacated whenever the former president comes to Chitral after fighting the fabricated cases against him. The speakers also said that those politicians of Chitral who had filed objections with the high court tribunal in Peshawar against Musharraf had committed treachery against the people of Chitral. These politicians when in power did nothing but they are now blood thirsty for Musharraf, who did a lot for the backward Chitral valley, they added. Mohsin Hayat, the young singer of the famous song, Musharrafo Khidmaat, on the occasion performed and the participants of the rally danced. 1. Hearing this from the Peshawar High Court seems to be totally ridiculous. Musharaf should now move the international court or the UN against this injustice. It is also shameful for us to claim that Pakistan is a democratic country where the most important pillar of the state is working with such a discrimination.

Indeed, whatever treatment Mushrarraf is getting at the hands of the judiciary is a result of what he did to the judges. He is a dictator and a military dictator never likes anyone disobeying his command. But when the chief justice of Pakistan turned down his order to set down Musharraf insulted him. Musharraf’s arrogance cost him his rule and his downfall started with the diposing of Iftikhar Chaudhry in 2007. There should be lifetime ban on all army men as regard to taking part in politics. My advice to the Chitralis is, do not be carried away by emotions and accept the reality. Musharraf is part of the political history now and you should be thankful to him for the tunnel but do not think that your vote will bring him back to power. Neither those who seek vote in Musharraf’s name should have a role in politics, they should stop trying to becom political parasites and become political leaders of their own.

  3. @Munir, no need for International Court or UN [they do not have jurisdiction in this matter like any Provincial High Court can NOT hear a case for any alleged crime under clause 6 of Constitution when it is a matter of Constitution itself]. There is Supreme Court of Pakistan, now those who cannot protect a hapless Markhor whom they are supposed to protect [https://www.chitraltoday.net/markhor-killers-go-scot-free-case-disposed-of/], they are giving an impression that they can protect the Constitution.
Supreme Court has yet to hear the case [if it is filed] to give its judgement whether Musharraf is guilty under clause 6 of Constitution + Treason Act 1973.
Why Musharaf is being sentenced for crimes for which he has not been convicted yet? May be Peshawar High Court is convinced that Musharraf cannot be tried just like Markhor hunters. Now this suo motu judgement against Musharraf be the only chance to display valor but I wonder why that suo motu for poor hapless Markhor in first place was initiated and then what caused lack of valor then?

The way some people are expressing their undying love for so-called democracy in this fucking country compel me to remind them not to forget hovering around television screens only some years back when, for the first time a Chitrali guy read out Khowar news on a private TV channel during the very tenure of none other than this military strongman, Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf, the savior of Pakistan and the friend of Chitralis.
I must mention the name of a self-proclaimed scholar, who thinks he is the best ever guy on the planet earth, to recall chanting “Musharraf zindabad” slogans after listening to Khowar news on television screen, 65 years after independence.
He must not forget appreciating the newscaster by phoning all the way from Chitral and confessing that Musharraf had really made Chitralis proud by giving them their due rights like telecasting Khowar news bulletin through a private TV channel and last but not the least by initiating work on Lowari tunnel project. “Musharraf ispa roy muzhi areir, ma ghech geicha ashru hoi khowara khabaran tiviya kar kori”, the newscaster quoted him as saying and praying for Musharraf.
Alas, his memory including a handful of others, pleading the case of their masters from different cities of the country is too short. Perhaps they have just forgotten the ordeal and step-motherly treatment given to their forefathers especially the spraying before crossing into Dir side via Lowari. Those who oppose Musharraf should keep this mind that this commando is the first and the last leader who paid special attention to Chitral.
These wishful thinking of constitutionalism, rule of law, democracy, going to Oxford, making your way to Cambridge etc, taking pride in less than 10 CSS officers in the country’s 65-year history, reflects the sick minds who have nothing else except building castles in the air. If you are that brave you must remember clapping for Nawaz Sharif when he insulted you [Chitralis] by saying have ever heard of Rs1 billion, during one of his visits to Chitral as primer while announcing uplift schemes for the district. Had he said this to someone other people even with a little self-respect, they would have sent him to hell straight.
If you really wanna compete with the world, educate yourselves first instead of taking pride in your gulabi English. The constitution has given nothing to you and please stop living in a fool’s paradise, saying you are democrat. This is Pakistan and its politicians deserve “boots and a dictator” to steer the country out of the prevailing crisis.

Mr Tariq, very well said that a court that took suo motu notice of the killing of the poor markhor and at the end had to bite the dust is now coming out with a lifetime election ban on the former president. Is there any law in the world under which a court before convicting anyone can declare such a verdict? I think the courts in Pakistan are losing their credibility gained after 2007.

It is the constitution and their democratically elected governments, we the poor Pakistanis still living in a stone age. It is democracy and the constitution, some of the people are occupying lucrative slots after their retirement by writing complementary columns, praising their fake degree holder elected representatives.
Democracy is the best form of governance that thieves, corrupt paved the way for illiterates to make their way to parliament by abolishing the graduation condition for a lawmaker. Democracy is a very good thing today an undergraduate rules over us as the president.
It is again democracy the contractors have become your leaders because there is no scrutiny of the candidates. It was the democratically-elected government which was hell-bent on devolving the Higher Education Commission to provinces.
It was the dictator due to him the poorest of the poor went abroad for higher studies. It was the dictator who picked up the brilliant Dr Attaur Rehman as education minister. And your leaders, the democrats, the politicians imposed a fake degree holder, and a professional transporter as education minister. Shame on you.
We hate these politicians because there is not a single person with a clean track record. Their only job is to plunder the national wealth, promote nepotism and favouritism and pumper their kith and kin.
