NEW YORK, Aug 14, 205: Pakistan and the Pacific island nation of Micronesia have formally established diplomatic relations.
The two countries signed a joint communiqué at Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the UN in New York. Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmed and Micronesia’s UN Ambassador Jim S. Lepowe led the signing.
Ambassador Ahmed welcomed the timing of the agreement, which coincided with Pakistan’s Independence Day. The new ties aim to boost political and diplomatic cooperation. They also create opportunities for future collaboration between Pakistan and Micronesia.
