Chitral, Sept 21, 2025: Lower Chitral District and Sessions Judge Shahnaz Hameed Khattak has sentenced a man to one year in prison and imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on him for possessing hashish, which was recovered from his residence during a raid conducted in 2022.
According to the prosecution, on September 17, 2022, following receipt of a report regarding the presence of narcotics in the house of Syed Qadam, a resident of Zhitoor village within the jurisdiction of Garam Chashma police station, a search warrant was duly obtained from the magistrate.
Acting on the warrant, the police raided the premises and recovered 440 grams of hashish.
The prosecution successfully proved the allegation during the course of trial, upon which the court convicted the accused under Section 9(C) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Control of Narcotics Substances Act, 2019.
The judgment further stated that in case of non-payment of the fine, the convict would undergo an additional 10 days of imprisonment.
During the proceedings, Sardar Ali Advocate appeared on behalf of the accused, while the district public prosecutor represented the state.–Dawn
