ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court on Saturday formally framed charges against Umar Hayat, the prime suspect in the murder case of Islamabad-based Chitrali social media influencer Sana Yousaf.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty and denied all allegations.
During the proceedings, Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka read out the indictment and directly asked the accused whether he had murdered Sana Yousaf. Umar Hayat firmly rejected the accusation, declaring: “I have committed no such crime. All the charges against me are unfounded.”
The court also raised the allegation that the accused had snatched the victim’s mobile phone, but Umar Hayat dismissed this claim as entirely false.
It may be recalled that a murder case was earlier registered against the accused at Sumbal police station following the killing of the young TikTok personality on June 2, 2025.
After hearing the accused’s response, the court adjourned the proceedings until September 25, when the case will be taken up for the next phase of trial.
