Chitral, Sept 3, 2025: All telecommunication network operators in Lower Chitral have been directed to take immediate and practical steps to improve their services in Chitral.
The PML-N Chitral said that on the intervention of its MNA Ghazala Anjum, a PTA team was currently visiting Chitral Lower and Upper to assess mobile phone and internet service issues and resolve them.
The direction was issued by Deputy Commissioner Rao Hashim Azeem at a meeting in Chitral. According to a statement from the DC office, he ordered them to address persistent network and internet issues affecting residents of Lower and Upper Chitral.
The DC emphasized that responsible officials must act promptly once the problems are identified. This will ensure reliable and efficient telecom services for the public.
The high-level delegation from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Peshawar Zonal attended the meeting. Representatives from all major telecom stakeholders also joined, including cellular mobile operators, fixed-line voice providers, and data service providers.
The meeting reviewed public complaints about weak network signals, slow internet speeds, and specific issues with Telenor services. Officials aimed to develop long-term solutions. The participants made important decisions to upgrade and enhance telecom services in the region.
They focused on meeting international standards. It was agreed that a comprehensive survey would start in Lower Chitral. Later, it would expand to Upper Chitral. The survey will scientifically identify deficiencies in network performance.
The session concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders. They pledged to meet the telecommunications needs of the public. They will also establish an efficient, integrated and robust communication system across both districts.
