PM Orders Speedy Completion of 100 MW Solar Project in GB

Islamabad, Aug 12 — Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the 100 Megawatts Solar Project in Gilgit-Baltistan to be completed within one year. He will personally supervise the project to ensure timely progress.

The Prime Minister held a meeting today to review the project. He said the solar project will provide low-cost, eco-friendly electricity. This will end the 18 to 20 hours of daily power outages in the region.

Shehbaz Sharif instructed officials to build climate-resilient infrastructure. He also confirmed full federal funding for the project. He called solar energy the best solution to Gilgit-Baltistan’s power problems.

The project will create six solar parks in Gilgit, eight in Skardu, and six in Diamer. Solar panels will be installed on 234 buildings in Gilgit, 179 in Skardu, and 66 in Diamer. A system for real-time battery backup monitoring is also being developed.

The Prime Minister emphasized mixing renewable sources with the energy mix. This will help protect Pakistan from the impacts of climate change.

He also ordered full transparency during construction. Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari was named chairman of the project’s Steering Committee.

During his recent visit to Gilgit, Shehbaz Sharif announced that ECNEC will soon approve the 100 MW power plants. This project will bring reliable and green energy to Gilgit-Baltistan.
