CHITRAL: In a deeply disturbing turn of events, two women, both mothers, allegedly ended their lives in separate incidents in Lower Chitral on Thursday.
The first incident occurred in the Sarojal village of Bumburate where a woman, daughter of Afzal, reportedly jumped into local stream at night. Her body was later recovered downstream near Ayun and taken into custody by local police. The body was later transported to the District Headquarters Hospital in Chitral for postmortem examination.
Initial reports suggest that the woman had been struggling with mental health issues, which were further exacerbated following the death of her father just a day prior. The woman was mother of three several children.
In a separate and equally tragic incident, another woman reportedly jumped into the Chitral River near the village of Orghoch on the outskirts of Chitral town. The motive behind the act remains unknown, and rescue teams continue their search for her body.
Both incidents have sent shockwaves through the local community and raised serious concerns about mental health and social pressures faced by women in the region.
