Lotkoh elders pledge unity for Dorah road project

SHOGHORE: In a show of unity, elders and residents from different parts of the Lotkoh valley reiterated their resolve to set aside all personal and political interests to press for the construction of the long-awaited Chitral-Garam Chashma-Dorah Pass road.

Following a successful public gathering in Garam Chashma, representatives of Tehreek Lotkoh-Dorah Road (Lotkoh-Dorah Road Movement) held a joint meeting in Shoghore with community members from Karimabad, Arkari, Pursan, and Shoghore.

Addressing the gathering, movement patron Nawab Khan said they had come together solely for the region’s collective welfare.

“We have no political agenda: our only goal is the road, and we are ready to sacrifice all affiliations for it,” he stated.

TLDR President Nusrat Elahi emphasized a shift in local political strategy, saying: “We will no longer do politics on the road; now we will vote based on the road. Whoever builds this road will get our support, no matter their party.” He added that despite past tragedies and political promises, no tangible progress had been made on the project.

Other speakers included TLDR Vice President Sajjad Partovi, General Secretary Alauddin Haidari, UC Nazim Arkari Sharafuddin, UC Nazim Mirdullah Jan, former nazim Nazar Shah, UC Nazim Pursan Haji Nowroz, and several former councillors and community leaders. They all pledged to continue their peaceful struggle and maintain unity until the road becomes a reality.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous decision to hold the next gathering in Susom, Karimabad, on April 21, 2025.
