Upper Chitral Press Club inaugurated

BOONI: The Upper Chitral Press Club was formally inaugurated in Booni on Thursday.

The event brought together people from different walks of life, including government officials, political figures, civil society members and journalists.

Deputy Commissioner Haseebur Rehman was chief guest while the ceremony was presided over by Mastuj Tehsil Chairman Sardar Hakim.

In his welcome address, President of the Upper Chitral Press Club Mohammad Ali Mujahid highlighted the importance of the press club, terming it a significant step towards the promotion of a constructive media environment in the region.

President of Regional Ismaili Council Imtiaz Alam lauded the establishment of the press club, saying it would serve not only as a platform for journalists but also contribute to the overall development of the region.

In his speech, Deputy Commissioner Haseebur Rehman said the media plays a key role in the progress and development of any society. He congratulated the journalists of Upper Chitral on the establishment of the press club and expressed the hope that they would continue highlighting local issues through responsible journalism.

Tehsil Chairman Sardar Hakim also appreciated the services of the journalist community, noting that a functional press club acts as a bridge between the public and the administration.

Noted religious scholar Maulana Qazi Rabbani described journalism as a reformative force from both Islamic and national perspectives, urging journalists to use their pen for the betterment and moral uplift of society.

The event was also attended by DPO Upper Chitral Aqeel Shah, representatives of political parties, social activists and a large number of citizens.
