Imports from India increase despite trade suspension

ISLAMABAD: In about a year of the PML-N government, imports from India have increased for the fourth time compared to previous years.

According to a report in Geo News, despite the suspension of trade between the two countries, imports from India registered an increase of 28 percent on an annual basis in February 2025.

Quoting officials in the ministry, the report stated that the volume of imports from India in February 2025 was worth $268 million against just $28 million in the same month last year.

Pakistan had suspended trade with India in August 2019 after which however the government relaxed the suspension causing a steady increase in imports of different items the neighboring country

According to government sources, Pakistan had allowed the trade of mostly life-saving medicines with India.
